Co-led the development of AlphaFold, the AI system that predicts protein structures, and shared the 2024 chemistry prize.
Nobel Prize work
Hassabis co-founded DeepMind and led its attack on protein structure prediction, applying deep learning to a problem unsolved for fifty years. The resulting AlphaFold2 reached near-experimental accuracy at CASP14 in 2020 and went on to predict the structures of virtually every known protein.
